Resolution 1: (Submitted by Resolution Committee) Whereas, the Association of Fire Chiefs of Chatham County are the hosts for the 2002 Joint Conference, and Whereas, the Fire Chiefs and their respective departments personnel deserve recognition for their hard work and energies expended toward the conference; Therefore, be it resolved the GAFC extend the deepest appreciation to the Chatham County Fire Chiefs for hosting the Joint GAFC-GSFA Conference 2002 by sending a letter of appreciation to all Chatham County Fire Chiefs. Resolution 2: (Submitted by Chief/General Manager Wesley Meadows, Southside Fire/EMS) Whereas, the Volunteer Firefighters of the State of Georgia give of their time, effort, monies, and even their lives in the pursuit of saving the lives and property of the citizens of Georgia, and Whereas, these same Volunteer Firefighters receive no compensation for their unselfish service to the citizens of Georgia, and Whereas, it is the desire of the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs (GAFC) to encourage and increase volunteerism in Georgia; Therefore, be it resolved that the GAFC does support and will write letters to all State Legislators asking for an exemption of Georgia State Income Taxes for all Volunteer Firefighters in the State of Georgia. Resolution 3: (Submitted by Asst. Chief Hugh Futrell, Southside Fire/EMS) Whereas, the GFA has established and piloted special courses, in particular, the 2-week NPQFF1, at the request of several fire departments in the State, and Whereas, these courses have successfully trained and produced NPQ level 1 Firefighters for the benefit of the Fire Service and the citizens of Georgia; Therefore, be it resolved that the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs shall send letters to the Director of GFA and the Director of the Public Safety Training Center thanking the GFA for its assistance in the creation and hosting of these course. Resolution 4: (Submitted by Chief Jason Waterfield, Islands Fire Department) Whereas, the current requests for Transcripts of Training Time from the Georgia Fire Academy (GFA) provide only the GFA sponsored courses, and Whereas, many current Firefighters of Georgia have submitted training records in the past and do so presently based on the FDC numbering system established by the GFA; Therefore, be it resolved that the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs shall send letters to the GFA encouraging the GFA to provide an individual Firefighter's full transcript on-line to include both the GFA sponsored courses and the FDC numbered courses completed Resolution 5: (submitted by the chief David Trussel, Montezuma Fire & Emergency Services) Whereas, Chief Stephen Moreno of Americus Fire & Emergency Services has served in a leadership position for the GAFC for the last 13 years, and Whereas, Chief Moreno has unselfishly served through every elected position for the GAFC, and Whereas Chief Moreno has tirelessly worked to promote the Fire Service in the State of Georgia; Therefore, be it resolved that the GAFC hereby recognizes Chief Stephen Moreno for his outstanding dedication, service, and leadership to the GAFC and the Fire Service in Georgia. Resolution 6: (Submitted by Chief Jason Waterfield, Islands Fire Department) Whereas, the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) has limited access for Firefighters to participate in certain courses, such as EVOC and Instructor courses, and Whereas, no provision has been made to supplant this loss of training availability for Firefighters in Georgia; Therefore, be it resolved that the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs will send letters to the Director of the GPSTC supporting more access to the limited courses or an increased number of courses to be made available to the Firefighters of Georgia. Resolution 7: (Submitted by Chief David Wall, Morrow Fire Department) Whereas there is a shortage of EMT's and Paramedics in the State of Georgia; Therefore, be it resolved that the GAFC formally adopt the issue of an EMT-B who has mandatory additional training in Intravenous Therapy and Advanced airway training being allowed to function in the State of Georgia as the second member of a two member ambulance crew, and Be it further resolved that the GAFC forward a letter to this effect on to the Director of the Department of Human Resources.
