Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree required in a fire safety related field with a bachelor degree preferred or two years of experience working in a Fire Marshal’s office enforcing the NFPA Life Safety Code and related NFPA codes. Must have a valid GA’s driver’s license and must obtain State of Georgia certification as a Fire Safety Inspector within one year of employment. Person in this job must be in generally good health, capable of extensive walking, climbing ladders and stairs, lifting fire extinguishers up to 40 lbs. Must communicate effectively both verbally and in written form as well as produce clearly written inspection reports; must work well with staff/students. Must be experienced in using standard office equipment including computer experience in Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, internet. |

Job Description: Perform fire safety inspections of university facilities and fire safety equipment. Prepare reports based on inspection results. Conduct fire safety training, inspections, prepare and present reports. Review building plans, architectural designs, etc. for safety considerations. Assist in emergency preplanning and support emergency response activities as necessary. Manage documents; file, retrieve information upon request and forward to departments. Receive training & stay abreast of developments in the fire safety field. Occasional duties: attend staff meetings; accompany state fire marshal on inspections. Other duties as necessary. |
