RE:     Training Courses Available at NFA 

 

We were advised this week that there are vacancies left in select courses being offered at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg Md.  These are on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you are interested, you should follow up immediately.  Thank you to Woody Stratton for making this information available to us. 

 

National Fire Academy (NFA) Training Opportunities

(available as of February 26, 2007)

 

You may access www.usfa.dhs.gov/fireservice/training/ for more information, or contact the Admissions Office via email netc-admissions@dhs.gov or by phone at 301-447-1035. Completed applications may be faxed to 301-447-1441.

 

Note: The NFA policy of only one stipend-supported trip per fiscal year remains. However, a qualified individual may seek to participate without stipend assistance. Please indicate on your application that you are aware of this restriction when you apply for the course.

 

Eligibility:  Any person with substantial involvement in fire prevention and control, emergency medical services, fire-related emergency management activities, or allied professions is eligible to apply for NFA courses. Applicants must meet the specific student selection criteria and prerequisite(s) (if applicable) for the course for which they are applying. For complete course descriptions and prerequisite information, please refer to the USFA Web site at: www.usfa.fema.gov/training/nfa Selection also is based on the impact the applicant will have on the quality of fire protection in the local community, the potential for use of the skills acquired, and equitable and representative distribution from the total fire service.
